I sent my youngest son off to War today
I watched him say goodbye
He was strong, and didn’t cry
I stumbled with my words, as I tried to say
“I’m as proud as I can be,
But son, come back home to me.”
We held a long embrace, and then he walked away
But he turned and saw my face, and then I heard him say—

I will take a stand for Freedom
I will make the sacrifice
I will do what I Believe in
To save another life
I know that it’s a choice
But it’s a choice that I must make
I will take a stand—
For Freedom’s sake

I heard my youngest son lost his life today
Faithful to the end
He was rescuing a friend
They stumbled with they words, as they tried to say
How proud I could be
He died to keep us Free
They shook my hand, saluted, and then drove away
As I held his Medal of Honor, I still could hear him say—

I will take a stand for Freedom
I will make the sacrifice
I will do what I Believe in
To save another life
I know that it’s a choice
But it’s a choice that I must make
I must take a stand—
For Freedom’s sake

God sent His only Son to the cross that day
Jesus made the sacrifice 
For my Eternal Life
I stumbled with my words, as I tried to pray
“Father, now I see
The sacrifice You made for me”
I finally understood how great a gift God gave
In the words my son had spoken, I could now hear Jesus say—

I will take a stand for Freedom
I will make the sacrifice
I will do what I Believe in
To save another life
I know that it’s a choice
But it’s a choice that I must make
I will take a stand—
For Freedom’s sake

I will take a stand—
