Trepidation
By Susan Vaughan Shumake
*****
Trepidation is the word
Darkness buried now be heard
Wishing I could run and hide
All that part of me has died
Solace in the broken piece
Give me Jesus your relief
Suffered you for all my shame
Given life and took my blame
No more waters ‘ore my head
Bring your life where I am dead
Now inside are dreams all lost
Lost although you paid the cost
Bring me Life and liberty
Release this daughter, set me free
You alone are my safe place
Rescue me from Hell’s disgrace
Hidden neath this outer shell
Disappointment fills a well
Flooding grief within my soul
Father, Father make me whole.
